$14.75 in southern Oklahoma. I started out at $6.50 an hour in 2000 for a different ready-mix company. I drove thirty miles one way for that wage for eight months before I got fired (WHOO-HOO! THANK YOU JESUS!) and went to work for some deep pocket folks who bumped me up to $7.50 .

Hello boys just thought id pop in and see what your all up to state side. I drive a mixer over here in the UK just outside London our rates of pay are hard to work out per hour we get paid all sorts of bonuses , to do with distance, number of loads ect but the basic hourly rate is POOR. We work about 55 to 60 hrs a week there is no longer a union. On average, it would be £27/28,000 per year top line. How does that compare? am lucky if am on £13000

Colorado, (Denver area) 18.00 to start to 21.00 new equip. We do better than union here. 401K, paid and good health 2 weeke vac 1st year. 3 wks at 5 and 4 wks at 15. No raises for 2 years though due to economy. Here in NYC, local 282 Teamsters hourly wage is $36 per/hr. This does not include employer paid contributions toward our Pension, Annuity, Vacation fund, and Health & Welfare. If we were to receive in our pockets the entire benefits package, it comes out that we're making around $92 an hour. We dont have vacation days, we get a vacation check at the end of every quarter which is based on the hours we worked throughout the previous quarter. Its a shape job... You show up for work each day without any gaurantee that you will work. Drivers are put to work based on seniority, and are gauranteed 8hrs once put to work. Overtime is earned daily after 8hrs. Saturday is all overtime, and sunday is double time. Over 8 hrs on a sunday is double double time $$$$!!! We have drivers at top of seniority list making over 120k a year, and The lower guys are ranging from 34-60k fairly easily. After 9yrs, I have been grossing 98k a year the past two years.. And I take quite a bit of days off throughout the year! Oh, we dont have sick days either.. You dont come to work, you simply dont get paid and dont get any employer contributions to your pension, annuity, vacation, or health & welfare. Must work 120 hrs each wuarter to maintain health benefits for next quarter. If you work over 1000hrs in a year, you have health benefits for the entire next year whether or not you work 1hr or not the entire year. Seems like NYC is on top of the food chain compared to other parts of the contry regarding the redi-mix industry.
