You'll notice the part of the vid where I'm screwing with the discharge hopper. A piece came out that was just the right size and shape so as to lodge itself there. When I cut to the next scene, you'll see my booster axle coming up. I had to lower it to climb up there and dislodge the chunk from the hopper. You can see it falling off the end of the chute when the booster raises completely. There was also a chunk about the size of a basketball that was lodged between the fins. I had to bang that one out with my hammer.
Again, fellas, I got this truck three weeks ago. I am anal about my washdowns.

I've found that no matter how thorough you are, you can still get some stuck. Usually behind the fins.

My thought watching that video is that you were pretty brave to stick your hand in there when a huge chunk of concrete could fall out at any minute. I'm guessing the safety guy was off that day.

I always get particular about a drum wash . The boss got me a truck with around 4 yards in it 6 years ago. after that i swore i would never use a jackhammer in my drum again. 3 weeks ago the drum finally came apart and i got a new one with the drain holes in the fins all the way down. Now i get yelled at for using too much water in the drum. this is what i here all the time (Dam Mikey I Held Back 25 Gallons) Hahahah

I USE TO CHIP MIXERS DRUMS EVERY WINTER FOR LIKE 7 OR 8 YEARS. MY CREW WOULD PRESENT THE DRIVER WITH SELF PROCLAIMED AWARDS. IF THE DRUM HAD UNDER A QUARTER YARD IN IT WE'D GIVE THE DRIVER "THE ATTA BOY, YOU WIN A COOKIE" AWARD ;D. IF THE DRUM WAS TOTALLY FU**** UP WE'D GIVE HIM THE "ANAL PLUG" AWARD . THE FRONT OFFICE LIKED THE IDEA SO MUCH THEY MAIL LAID-OFF DRIVERS THEIR AWARD ON COMPANY STATIONARY. OF COURSE THAT WAS WAAAAY BACK WHEN THIS PLACE WAS FUN TO WORK AT . I HAVEN'T CHIPPED A TRUCK OUT IN 4 YEARS AND DON'T PLAN TO IN THE FORESEEABLE FUTURE EITHER!

Our company decided to hire an outside crew to do the job for us. They do all the trucks that need it in one night. After doing it myself for over 30 years I am always happy to see them pull into the yard. ;D

Speaking of freeway jobs. We were on a job where they were putting so much accelerator and super "P" in the loads they had a doseing trailer on the job site. They would dose it, we would spin the **** out of it on the way to the pour (200 yards ahead) and then full discharge 10'' slump and driving on it within six hours.

i bought a second truck from a local plant a few years ago, when i drove it to try it out i thought it was a bit sluggish but it was an old truck and this guy was not famous for his maintenance. it wasnt until i jumped in the drum that i could see why,the front blades were completly burried and it was like that until the drum starts to taper.i thought it had broke down with a load on but it was all round the drum, turned out for the last three months they had used this truck to to end of day part loads and nobody could be bothered to wash her out so it just got worse and worse.in the end any more than 3 cube it was coming out the back (the price of the truck was cheaper though) luckly my mate is an explosives engineer and with about 50 snappers and a weekends work she was as good as new,he said there was about 6 ton in there, wish i had taken photos

We had a job like that late this summer. It was 14% Non CC (7 gallons per yard!), dosed on the job. If anything was left, it was sugared. I had some in my wheel barrow, got a phone call from the sales manager, and couldn't even stick my scoop in it after 7-8 minutes.
