I guess we're beginning to feel the effect of the so-called stimulus money. Many of the bridges and overpasses in the area are being resurfaced. Local municipalities are replacing sidewalks, curbs and handicap ramps. It's not as busy as I'd like, but I'm getting 40 hrs. a week and a little OT so I can't complain. Some guys are a lot worse off than I am and I'm thankful for what I have. Hang in there.....think positive....it can only get better.

It's bad out here in Southern California. I'm lucky to get 30 hours most weeks.

We're dead in the Seattle area. I've been working a lot in QC, but the drivers are starving. I think I'd rather be starving as a driver than eating well as a QC tech, though...

San Francisco Bay Area is pretty bad. I heard Cemex is off 60%. A few new "big" jobs starting soon along with infrastructure work. Four Shamrock Material plants closed in the North Bay. I haven't seen it this bad in the 28 years I've been driving mixers in SF.

Every day I keep my fingers crossed that I still have a job when I go to punch in.

That's what all of our senior drivers have been saying. I say if I can survive this, I'll be okay for the rest of my career.

hi to all,it`s the same here in nz (slow)tomorrow i`m starting work at 9am normally start between 6 and 7.today we were finished at 3pm,have`nt worked a saturday in three weeks and we get time and a half pay on saturdays,i think the shipper discourages anyone wanting concrete on a saturday because they can`t ship for nuts and take on three loads for the same time and then need three drivers in to cover instead of getting one driver in and spreading the loads to suit.but their not interested in us getting the hours in,they want the concrete out early so they can clock us of early .yet when it`s busy their not interested in us getting a break or working to the log book.

Its slow over here in LA too. I dont get 40 hrs till saturday. The only thing that helps me out is working on sunday on the interstate working with hi-early. its usually 10-15 hours. working 7 days a week sucks. but on a brighter side at least I'm working.
