Newbie here, didn't notice a thread about this so i figured i would start one. Just wondering if any other companies out there buy stuff for your rides. My company gets us any lights we want for like under the front bumper, chrome lug nut covers, top hats for the rear drives. Also we have red led lights mounted on the front pedestal for the drum that shine on the drum , a must for alot of night work so u can see what the drum is doing lol

Your kidding me right? Chrome & colored spotlights? We're lucky to get a truck with wheels on them. One time when they patched & painted a barrel, they sprayed gray primer & white paint all on the cab. That's Callanan's verson of chrome, bells & whistles.....

Yer kidding! Hell, I buy my own 5 gallon buckets, slag hammers, everything! If I wanted purty lights to shine on my drum, they'd laugh and tell me to go screw! Who do you work for, and are they hiring?

They bought us some chrome lug nut covers. The first time I had to bust my butt removing them to change a flat they never went back on. What a pain in the ass!

^^ if I have a blow out or a flat I have to change my own tires, but if they are putting tires on they have a tire guy come in..

I don't think we'd be able to if we wanted to. Machinists union would probably get pissed, since that's what the mechanics are under.

Yeh, the only people changing the flats at my job is Bernie the tire man. Keep your paws off the lug nuts otherwise....

I'll be happy if they can get the blower motor to work this winter without the high pitched squeal it had last winter........then I'll worry about adding chrome lug nuts to the tires which ride on 12 different color wheel rims that they pulled off the other multi colored junkers we run...........

I worked for a company that would spring for shiny nut covers and toolboxes. Was family owned and we were treated with respect. We were sold and now we are part of a LARGE corporation and we are just numbers.
I WOULD RATHER BE HOMELESS THAN CHROMELESS

What if ya blow a tire on the road? Do you guys carry a spare? No spare. We call the garage on our Nextel and they send out a mechanic on the service truck. We're non-union.

Our company isnt that big we have 3 plants and about 20-23 mixer drivers. But the owner also owns a stone quarry, 5 differnt tri-axles companies, and big construction company. They bought 5 2006 terex in 2006 and then the begining of this year another 5 new ones came in and they are opening a new plant in spring 09

hahahah "We were sold and now we are part of a LARGE corporation and we are just numbers"
welcome to the BORG collective
yep we change our own tires for no pay here. were are pay per load so the hour it takes to change tires is on your dime.....hum wonder why some people on slow days run over a curb a bust a bald tire so that a tire contractor will change it out on the road side?

We get window cleaner, paper towels, armor-all, acid, and neutralizer. That's about it for cleaning products. I wish we got hammers, but a 2.5LB sledge at Harbor Freight is only $6, so that's not so bad (unless the shop takes it). I brought some Simple Green in to pimp out the interior, but then they transferred the truck to the other plant, so that's enough of that for a while.

Your kidding right? Chrome WTF...... Im lucky if I get a new wiper blade or if there is any window wash let alone chrome. I say a truck is a truck, if it goes, stops, has heat and the wipers work Im happy. One thing is a constant that will never change, Mixers get dirty. Its bad enough you have to acid them let alone shine chrome.
