Our plant which runs mostly commercial business is still running strong. But the plants that do housing are hurting. We maintain a 60- hour 5-day workweek easily. Hiring freeze is on, but no layoffs. Attrition is the answer for Dolese. They try hard to keep people because of upcoming projects. Windmill farms in western Oklahoma are our bread & butter.

It looks like things may be picking up here. I may be going back part time to my old company 3 days a week. I am keeping my current gravy job.

Its been crap here lately, but I'm encouraged by people in the other parts of the country picking up. I'm on week 3 of nothing, and I'm guessing by the weather forecast that tomorrow is going to cinch that up.
That God for government cheese, but I'm going to have to find a part time job to keep up with bills and food and stuff.

Still getting 10 to 15 a week. Our plant manager takes care of everybody, even us rookies. Good man.
Yea, Mort, I'm encouraged too. Billy and CF say they're getting lots of work coming up. Hope that starts out here real soon.

^^ They'd have to get rid of 10 to get me...But in all honesty I really don't see them getting rid of anyone because we still have a few days a month they need everyone..

UNLESS LAWS ARE DIFFERENT IN YOUR STATE, AND YOU DON'T WORK A FULL WEEK YOU ARE ENTITLED TO SIGN UP FOR UNEMPLOYMENT WHETHER YOUR EMPLOYER NOTIFIES YOU OR NOT. YOU SHOULD STILL GET SOME UNEMPLOYMENT $$$ IF YOUR ON CALL OR WORKING PART TIME! IF YOUR COMPANY'S PULLING SH*T LIKE THAT ON YOU FELLAS FIND ANOTHER JOB. THEY DON'T DESERVE YOU! GEEEZ, IT'S IN OUR EMPLOYEE HAND BOOK TO SIGN UP LIKE I SAID...WHERES YOUR ALMIGHTY UNION AT? WHO'S GOT YOUR BACK? YOU JUST DON'T FU** WITH A MANS LIFE LIKE THAT! ....SORRY FELLAS, STORIES LIKE THAT JUST RUB ME RAW ON THE SACK .

Big job tomorrow. I gotta be in by 6:00am. But, that also means that I have to leave at 2:30pm. 8 hours and 8 hours only. But, I'm not complaining. Some guys in this country aren't working these days and I always keep that fact in mind.

I got 15 lastweek plus holiday pay, but this week nothing.. They are keeping everyone that they can at home so they dont have to pay holiday pay during holiday weeks.. lastweek I was lucky enough to get brought in 2 days so I got paid for christmas, but the 10 guys below me havent worked in 2 weeks..

I am trying to stage a comeback.
After my layoff in late 2008 I was unemployed for 9 months. Luckily the unemployment checks covered the mortgage. I applied for everything I could find and finally got into a factory.
Noticed a local company was looking for drivers so I stopped by and got a walk in interview.
My old company Lafarge sold out its RM division to Argos, a big South American outfit. Drivers there are still on pay per load and not happy.
Hopefully the new gig comes through because I am ready to jump from the factory ship.
