If there was anything that you would add to or take away from your truck what would it be? I could be something as simple as a new fold over chute or something that hasn't been built yet. Here's our chance to build the perfect mixer. What would it have on it? I'll start. I saw a front discharge metered mix truck once that had chutes that extended out. Not the flip over kind, but ones that extended straight out. You could pour out and not have to move the truck until you've retracted the chutes to the point of splattering your truck. That would be great if my truck had those. No more hanging chutes!

Since I drive a rear discharge mixer I would like some kind of camera set-up mounted on the back of the truck. So many of our customers will hold the chute while standing directly behind the truck and I'm supposed to see his hand signals. I could have a small monitor on the dash. I'd also like some kind of gauge that measures how much concrete is left. (I know, I know, the answer is always "A quarter of a yard"), but I'd like to know exactly how much I have on there when I get loaded again.

mine (rear discharge) would have the rear view camera. something i would also like is a higher reverse gear. we have three trucks that have Cat motors instead of Cummins (not that i know if that has anything to do with the transmissions they put in them) but the transmissions in those trucks are eaton-fuller 8-speeds (9-speeds, whatever) virtually identical to those in the Cummins powered trucks except the main reverse gear (range selector in low, low reduction disengaged) was much higher. this allowed one to move faster in reverse when you need to back down a long road to a pump or something and would also give you faster wheel speed when you're slammin' up a muddy hill to do a garage floor or basement floor or whatever. anyway, i'd love to have that higher reverse if i could. oh hell, as long as i'm dreaming, give me a 13-speed (9-speed where you can split the top side) with the high reverse, and a jake brake.

I wouldn't change a thing on the new Advance front discharge mixers. A/C would be nice (the only option my company doesn't get). A lot of guys driving rear dumps mention wanting a camera system on the back. There are many cheap aftermarket systems that I'm surprised companies aren't using when you guys are in reverse so much. All our mixers come with a rear camera system, and we drive front discharge mixers. They have even gone from CRT monitors to LCD in the past couple years. So, lets dream a little bit............ I would like a DVD and satellite T.V system hooked into that LCD. A docking station for my laptop with mobile broadband card. A small fridge and coffee maker. A P.A. system. I used to use that feature on a CB in my truck, and it was super handy! I could go on and on! ;D

The former owners of our company would never buy a/c for us either. But, a few years ago the State of New Jersey made a/c mandatory in all heavy trucks registered in the state. ;D They weren't too thrilled with that but they had no choice. Unfortunately they didn't have to retrofit any of the trucks they already owned.

bigger cab, leveling system to prevent those close call tip overs,G.P.S, XM radio, what we all need is like a scale that measured the weight of your barrel converting it into how many yards you truck had on. like 4000lbs = 1yrd ;D So then when they ask how much ya got left!!! you could look at your digital scales gauge and it would automatically covert it into yards.

Sleeper cab! I'm all for that! A sleeper cab with a TV screen so I can check out Jerry Springer or Maury while I'm waiting for them to set the forms.

lets see have a c-12 cat motor, a/c , allison 6speed automatic no more shifting all day, power windows , power mirrors, rear camera, aluminum chutes weigh about 10 pounds, cd player and a wash out system so no more running dirty. I'm pretty spoiled not to much to complain about or change.

well as of right now I'd like to get my truck sandblasted and repainted.. its been chipped out a few times and the paint got knocked off the drum and has some rust spots on it.. but in about 5 months I should be getting a "new" to me 05 Volvo D13 Volvo engine 485HP and the 6 speed allison, power mirrors, heated mirrors, and a power passenger window.. they are like cadillacs.. At our plant if another driver with a new truck is out they put someone with an older truck in it, so i've driven the new ones quite a bit

I had a new barrel put on my truck last year. But, when they painted it they got yellow paint on my red cab. So, our yard foreman sent it out to have the cab repainted. Unfortunately, they got red paint on my yellow mixer. It never ends, does it?

My company buys about 50 new mixers every year and now that I'm a little higher on the food chain I get a new truck every year now. 2007 Sterling 10 1/2s A/C heated power mirrors, the only down side is 40 gal fuel tank and 90 gal water tank. But the plastisizer tank built on the end of the water tank holds 25 gal so that helps...but somthing to change would definately be an exact way to tell how much you have left on for when they load on top of your leftover.

I'm suprised you can add HRWR to your load, does the contractor have to sign off on that? I know you change the slump without affecting the w/c ratio, but man, some of the commercial jobs that I worked on, if it wasn't in the mix, it better not be in there. High Range Water Reducer.

on the Holcim job they are very strict about everything.. no water no HRWR or anything unless the mix calls for it.. or it is in the rules for what you are pouring.. our office put "can add 3 gal. per yard" but if we have to add water you have call the head guy over the job and ahve him call his boss and ask to add a few gallons of water.. its rediculous.. thats the job I'm on.. it looks completely different now.. there are 12 silos up and alot of steel erected now.. we are starting to pour a 1200 ft. long building now

What would I change about mine?
- AC - Radio - The whole thing
Its an old pile, but we're supposed to retire a bunch of the old ones, so maybe I'll get a hand-me-down Kenworth. That'd be nice.
As far as HRWR, we use Glenium. The newer trucks have tanks, but us rookies get a 5-gallon bucket.

Being now that it's freezing cold up here I'd settle for an Advance that doesn't have drafts, AND leaks in the cab for Christ's sake. Drive Safe Men,

I want a larger fuel tank. Mine is 50 gal and all the newer trucks have a 40 gal. Great for in town since we have our own fuel tanks, but when it's 50 miles one way to a job when at a rural plant, finding a place that takes the FUELMAN card is a hassle. As for the cameras in the back, we are testing them on 3 of our trucks. Just one reason the contractor can say that we should have seen them...

A larger frame mounted toolbox, we have a small one between the fuel tank and the front fender, but it too small. We carry a '30ft. recovery strap, bumper pins, and chackles, along with a stupid chaulk block and the triangle case. Even one from a pick-up truck that is made to put on the bed rails would be awsome. Then I could put my rain coat, cooler, cleaning supplies and any thing else I want. Oh and I wish Oshkosh would get it together and make a place to put your clip board, map books, and magazines.

It must be an option then, we just recieved 2 new '07's and they have a small pocket but it is only wide enough for a small pair of gloves.
