My boss asked me yesterday if I'd come in tonight and tomorrow night at 6PM for a night pour we got going on.. extra dollar an hour.. so of course I said yes so I'm off during the day and will be running tonight and overnight.. I love working at night and overnights because you only have one pour going on and no traffic..

I've done some night work. A week or two ago, I got drafted for it because I'm the lowest guy on the seniority list that drives OshKosh, and they needed them for a freeway job. I also volunteered for a week of CDF pours. My goal was to go in at 1:00 on Friday, work until about 10 or 11, and get a long weekend, but wouldn't you know it? We finished the job on Thursday.

Last summer I had to go in at 2 Am once. I had to go out of town to help a sister plant do a bridge deck. I was forced because I was low man as well. I was pretty ticked about it at first but once I got on the job it was pretty nice actually.
I got back in town as everyone else was having lunch and laughing at me. Then they was all mad because I went home and they had to stay. All I said was something about enjoying my long weekend. LOL I'll volunteer next time.

When its warmer out I always go in at about 2AM but I'm usually there tell 6 or 7pm. I drive a conveyor truck so I'm running around to 4 different plants all day long. I end up finishing my last pour at around 4 or 5PM then its like a 2hr drive back to my plant.

So our plant is right on the Hudson River, it seems that it is a popular spot for the "Johns" to bring their dates after midnight. We don't even have to leave the yard to see this stuff going down. Upstate here is a big college town, so the night life is interesting to say the least...... Hoofa! Drive Safe!

I want the night pours. Work in the cool of the night, no traffic, get the HOURS. Just hump loads to the same site all night. Great for my load bonus every month.

Look at the lineup and see I am billed in at 1205am. I get home do my thing here at home. Call the tape and I am billed in to come in at 305am. So I'm like wtf?! This morning I clock in, pre-trip my truck get in line to get loaded. Line isnt moving at all so I fall asleep. Didnt catch a load till 630am. So I got paid to sleep and dream for 3 hours. What a waste of time. Get washed out early and get screwed out of hours. Oh well cant complain since its really slow.

I was billed in today at 655, Phone rings at 620 it's my batchman "hey I'm in the red and behind with no trucks, can you come in ealry?" I say yes on the way. I say to myself why bother? I'm out the door at 630 anyways, takes me 15 minutes to get to the plant. I got there 10 minutes early. Get loaded with 3 yds of color. come back at 9ish and over the nextel "wash it out" I'm like wtf?! why waste my time for a measely 3 yder and have the nerve to call me and try to get me to come in early. Then as Im leaving to go home its "oh by the way your on the nite pour" wtf!!!! there is my pregnant dog for the day. On a positive note I'm hauling slurry tonight ;D
