It hasn't been above freezing here in Western Washington for over a week. Its been down in the teens and 20s. I know some of you will one-up me on that, but that is seriously cold for this area (broke a record in Seattle yesterday).
Be careful of ice, drain your tanks and blow out your hoses, boys. The proper place for the nozzle is in the cab. I'm suprised at how many senior drivers seem to forget this.
And yes, this is the time of year I don't miss driving. I don't remember the last time the low-end guys worked. We've been closing one of our two plants for weeks straight.
Merry Christmas!

It's been in the 40's around here, but tonight and tomorrow are supposed to be in the 20's with a wind chill in the teens. I've always removed the entire hose from the back of my truck and keep it in the cab over night. Keeping my fingers crossed everyday when I go to work. So far the bills are getting paid. Nothing left at the end of the week but I can live with that for awhile.

I always went overboard on the winterization. Water adder propped open, hoses blown out, sight glass drained, the whole bit. I never really had much trouble with freezing up.
Then again, I never made it high enough on the seniority list to where winter work was a huge issue.

::)Drain the tank in the pit then blow everything out and disconnect the hose then close the valves and drive over to the fuel pump and blow everything out again. For my finishing touch, I put some light rope in my tank clapper so I don't have to beat it open the next morning. Usually after doing all that, I forget to plug in my block heater.
