The last part of the directions on my ticket read, "First house on the left after the tracks". As I turned into the drive I was thrilled to see a 1955 Bel-Air two door hard top and a 1967 Chevelle SS two door hard top under a carport. Both were covered in an inch of dust and looked like they hadn't moved in decades but they were slick.
I ran some mud out for the finisher, Terry Gxxxxx, and was surprised when he only had me put ten gallons in a five inch slump. He winked at me, looked around and said, "Yeah, gonna pour this kinda dry 'cuz the home owner is sort of a squirrel."
I told him, "Squirrel or not the guy has good taste in cars". Terry said, "Yeah but the guy never has time to work on 'em!".
We poured the mud, he signed my ticket and said, "Just wash out by the mail box." I drove over to the mail box, popped my air brake and finally noticed the name on the mail box: "Terry Gxxxxx" ;D! I never even noticed.....................

Hey, Mauserman- cool story. That's pretty good. I've got one of those cars...I'd love to get my paws on a 55 or 56 BelAir though.

Joe & Raymond, glad ya'll liked the story! I'm a car nut and I live to spot old tin! Raymond, that thing is freakin' sweet! Is it a stick or an automatic? These are my little hoopties - nothin' as great as a Chevelle with a rat heart but I like 'em . www.cardomain.com/id/karkevThe Datsun is my daily driver.

Mauserman-
The pictures and story behind your Fairlane is so cool! Once a car becomes a part of you, it's hard to let it go. I like the picture of your grandma with your car...that's cool. I'm so glad you were able to find it and buy it back! I got that Chevelle about the same time you got your Fairlane. My dad's friend restored a 67 Chevelle and had 6 parts cars to do it with. He told me if I helped him restore his car and work in his yard over the summer, I could pick the next best car and make one of my own. We built my car and made it complete. It wasn't pretty since it was made from 5 different parts cars - so there was a gold body, red doors, blue fenders...etc... but it was a real 'SS' frame & body and that's all I cared about. I got it home and tore it apart and did a complete frame-off restoration. It took a long, long time to complete it...and I still add to it or change stuff--you know, factory options and such. I just scored a dash that is set up for A/C. So that's next for it. It has so much sentimental value to me - the time spent with my father restoring it - it's priceless to me.
