We just started using the "drivesafe" program on our trucks, apparently its always been in place, just never used. For those of you who don't know what it is, its a gps/sensor system that scores you on things like turns, starts/stops loaded and unloaded. Well, our company is using these scores to punish us... I do ok with every category, except loaded and unloaded starts? Does anybody have any experience with this or know a way to beat it?

Never heard of it. Don't like the sound of it either. Just let me do my job.

I hope our company doesn't try anything like that, although one of the higher-ups was hinting at something like that. I think a huge company sticker on the side of your mixer is a deterrent enough for bad driving. We have people call in occasionally to complain about our guys.
And I hear that if you turn your truck on and off about 10 times, it sends you into outer space.

The truck tracker showed that I was somewhere in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean. I guess that's why the customer complained about too much water in the load.

We have all that minus the psi you use to stop. They did a test run with the in dash camera sat our san diego plants and decided it was going to be too costly to install in over 1000 plus trucks

Nothing says "We trust you guys" like a spy in the cab.

Company that I used to work with installed tracker and computer comms. They used to get mad at me because when they would send you a message it would beeps and I would always wait to answer it until I was back at the plant then have to go to another plant. They would want to know why I took so long to answer and I would point out that it says not to use unit while driving. Get em every time. Plus it had GPS and all that other stuff but it would never track right.

One cheat that I've learned for our system is that the truck status system works on the drum revolutions and water. If I leave my drum turning in discharge and then wash out it does not register. Also, if I wash out with short bursts it does not register.

we just have tracernet.. It monitors charge discharge, speed location.. leaving job on the job stuff like that.. But they dont really use it.. If they are looking for a specific truck they will, but they dont just have someone there watching trucks like that

Thanks for the idea of the speaker magnet! I will give that a try. The system we use is a Trimble system. We also got cameras put in about 6 months ago, they told us "these are not to get you in trouble" Yeah right, if we trigger the camera and we are not wearing a seatbelt, even on a jobsite we get 2 strikes and your fired, any cellphone use or even the wearing of a handsfree device on-the-spot termination. The only reason we have this junk IMO is because we had about 6 rollovers (1 fatality) in a 6 month period. They say it is for liability reasons but all they are using the cameras for is to bust us. They even admitted to spying in on us to "understand and predict our driving habits" The people that came up with this crap have never even drove a mixer, or even have a cdl? Whats up with that?

The shenanigans that companies are coming up with these days are getting out of hand IMHO. They want reliable safe drivers yet they constantly bombard us with stuff that makes our jobs more stressful and difficult.
I've been dealing with a company that insists on working us 1 or 2 days a week and then cant figure out why they have disgruntled employees. It effectively reduces my income to $300 or less a week. Thats on top of the crap they lay on us about "safety".
I for one have had enough of the elitist attitude that they've developed, and am on the verge of telling them to hang their job in their ass.

Its a tough time to be an underling. I've often said that there are two realities: The one that management and the sales staff lives in, and the one we live in. The two often don't jive. Its frustrating, and if you choose not to play the game, more power to you.
I, for one, have grown accustomed to a paycheck, and if that makes me a weak, unprincipled person, so be it. I'm a father, I don't have the luxury of principles.

I totally hear what your saying Mort. But at this point with my employer we're down to such few hours that we're losing our insurance and making an average of $8.00 an hour or less. I can swallow a whole lot of pride in the name of making a living and providing for my family, but when I'm making what a teenager makes working at a fast food restaurant I have to question whether it's worth it.
