I started out Tuesday 6 September 2000 for $6.50. I drove thirty miles one way for that wage. I make damned three times that now.

I started in 12/06, scale was $19.40. I was at 85 percent of that, so (carry the 1), $16.49. I'm now at 100 percent, which is $22.25.
Almost $6 per hour in two years. Not bad, I think.

I started in 1968 @ $5.34/hr in Niagara Falls,N.Y. In 1969 the NHL gave Buffalo a franchise (Sabres) the Memorial Auditorium in Buffalo had to have the roof raised to accomodate the needed seating capacity. I have to admit the Teamsters, like Rahm Emmanuel(sp?) never let a good "crisis"go to waste. I was making $11.07/hr in 1969! Buffalo and Niagara Falls were same local.

I'm new on the site but have viewing it for months. I started driving in 1974 at $2.30 an hour in Tallahasee Fl. Still drive some today but I'm a training coordinator for Vulcan Materials Fla Rock Div. Been with Fla Rock since 1977. Some of the larger metro areas in 1974 paid double that. But 35 years later, there's probably not more than $5 difference between the highest and lowest paying companies in the state. Unfortunetly, mixer driving is mostly part time employment lately.
