My wife just told me that NJ experienced some kind of "computer glitch" today that prevented anyone from filing for unemployment benefits.

It's the same way here.. you have to call all day...it will tell you their hold lines are full.. blah blah blah.. and when you can get inline to hold, you have to hold atleast 30 minutes..I'm glad we can do it online.. dont have to deal with anyone.. I put my claim in online tuesday and got my money yesterday.I actually have to go to work today..The way they do it here is everyone gets a 9 A.M. start time.. if you dont get a phone call in the morning they need you there at 9.. If they dont need you they call you off by 8 AM.. If they need you earlier than 9 they have to call you atleast an hour before they want you there..He called me at 6:30 and told me to be there at 8:50 today.. I was like "Charlie, isnt this a waste of a phone call.. I show up atleast 15 minutes early everyday.." ohwell..but anyways the reason we all get 9AM start times is so that it gives them time to see if they get orders in or not and dont have 20 guys in there and only 20 yards..Apparently we have a 400 yarder today..they did 200 yards yesterday and I was at home.. It sucks being #12 out of 22, but not nearly as bad as being number 22

Oddly enough, yesterday I got a bunch of mail from the unemployment people. One of them was a letter saying that I had claimed I worked for some gal, and I've never heard of her. Another was that I lied on a separation of work from a long ago employer, but I only listed them on the application because I still work for them occasionally and wanted to report the income.
I've got an e-mail out, and I'll be on the phone tomorrow if I don't hear anything.

God Bless You Fellas on Unemployment. I've been eight years in mixers and have never wanted for work. Currently, our home construction is dead but fortunately(?) our state's infrastructure is crumbling and we're just now starting to rebuild it. I have to be at work at 3:00am tomorrow for a 600 yard pour and we still have worked lined up for quite awhile. My company owns quarries as well as mixers and the quarries are expecting to produce more rock than ever before for various upcoming 2009 projects. You guys that are being kept home by the weather - when the weather clears do you have work? Truly, God Bless Ya'll. I love a few days off but work is my reason for existence. The ready-mix business is like cement poisoning: when it gets in your blood it's hard to get rid of it .

Thank god PA has good unemployment! We get laid of every year. We work when they need us. Sometime just a day a week sometimes all week but I run the conveyor truck so I end up with a couple days a week. I max out on unemployment in PA $535 a week plus I can work 14hrs before the start reducing my unemployment check so its good with me. There are only fed. tax on unemployment here so no local or state or anything Else all in all not to bad. We have one driver whose a lazy pos that works as little as possible all summer then pregnant doges that his unemployment is only $180 this winter.

My son lives out in Sunbury, Pa., Oldsmith. It's a nice little town and they provide plenty of activities for the children. Sounds like Pennsylvania takes care of its citizens.

I took me 4 hours of waiting on the phone, you can only do it by phone here. Then I get the paperwork in the mail, name spelled wrong and address off by one number and no pin number. A lot of good that does. If you have any problems contact customer service, same number. Shaft yes, your tax dollars at work.

Just file mine online here in WA. Only once has the website been too busy too file my claim. But then again I usually claim first thing on Sunday mornings. If it wasn't for commercial work I'd be driving chip truck or log trucks again.

I tried calling the unemployment line yesterday to try to straighten something out, after the line being busy for about 8 tries, I finally get through their stupid menu, and they say that due to high volume, they couldn't help me. Call back later. Bastards.

No kidding. They resolved one of the things, but the other I'm still waiting on. I didn't do anything wrong, but still, dealing with government agencies...
