This subject alone is enough to send chills up any drivers spine. What are your worst cod's you guys and gals have ever been on. I know that my worst was a addition to a house. I showed up at 7:00 am on a sat, the homeowner had no permit and walls using 1/4" plywood, no form oil, no bracing and then he says wet it up so it flows. How do you tell a weekend warrior that this is a bad idea all the way around without calling him a idiot. We'll I wet it up to a 7 and poured, it flowed alright, out the bottom and every other open crack then while washing down and the customer feeling great I looked back and the plywood was bowing everywhere, then snap!!!!! it went everyehere, then the guy says to me that the concrete I bought was way to heavy and it was the companys fault. I tried getting him to brace it up, and use diesel on the inside but he knew everything. (Concrete to heavy)!!!! ,,More like customer to dumb to do any research....

I had basically the same thing happen. But, the customer was making solid concrete steps in the front of his mother's house. He came all the way from Michigan to screw up the job. He had it formed out okay, but he said "make it as wet as you can.". I told him that it wasn't a good idea because the concrete would ooze out of the risers and it would be too much pressure on the forms. He said that he wanted it to flow into all the crevices around what was left of the old steps. Nothing I said would change his mind. So, I made it a 7 and poured it as easy as I could. I don't think I have to tell you what happened. Suffice it to say he had around 4 yards on his mother's lawn when I left.

One of the first solo pours I ever went out on was for an elderly fella named "Gene". Before I left my batchman told me," Gene's a little odd but he knows what he's doin' so just go with the flow". I took him nine yards at a five inch slump for trailer house runners and he had me add my entire 150 gallon water tank to it. Then he refilled my tank with a garden hose and drained it again. Then he ran the water hose directly into my drum and timed it for fifteen minutes. When we finally poured it it came out gray water and that made him happy. On the opposite of the coin was a fella who was pouring a garage floor in the 105' August Oklahoma sun. The mud came down the chute at about a three slump and he said, "Looks good". About an hour into the deal it was getting away from him and I asked him if he wanted to throw a little water in it. He replied, "You can do that !?!".

I can't think of one specifically now, but the ones that leave me with a full chute and nowhere to scrape are the ones that get me. I usually leave it in a big pile, right where they can see it (so, you know, they'll remember to clean it up later).

I was on a C.O.D. once that was fairly typical. Homeowner without the knowledge, or help, to tackle the project he formed up. Luckily for him, I was in a relatively good mood that day and got out to help the poor idjit. About two hours later I was finally able to clean up and get out of there. The really stupid part came while I was cleaning up. I had a bucket full of straight muratic acid, ahh the good old days, and I was in the process of cleaning my chute when from behind me I heard, "Is this water?" I turned around and saw this dude with both arms up to the elbows plunged into my bucket. I said, nonchalantly, "No, actually, that is muratic acid, and you have approximately ten seconds to rinse it off your arms before it eats them down to nubs." He pulled his arms out and they were as red as they could be and smoke was coming off of them. Guys, it was hilarious! You should have seen this guys face. It was priceless. I hosed him down and reassured him that he would be o.k. I told him to empty out his moisturizer on his arms. Man, I bet that stung!

I had a COD a last week. It was only 2mtrs for a shed slab and these two blokes had about half an idea of what to do between them so i gave them a hand as i wasnt busy and when they had finished they gave me $20 for helping and seems how that abit more than my hourly rate i was happy!.
It had been raining and as i was leaving i left two big sunken tyre marks in there yard and i felt bad but all they were concernd about was the mud on my truck. haha.

I used to help dumbass homeowners when I was new to the business. Now I know better. I'll add as much water as they want, as long as they sign the tag BEFORE I start unloading. I will not damage my truck to jockey into a bad spot, and I don't hang extra chutes if they want to wheelbarrow the load. I tell them up front they have X amount of time to unload and then it's $1.50 per minute.
