I myself would have to say a 6x6 Diamond Rio with a NTN, yes NTN mixer on it. It had a v-6 Detroit, no deep reduction just a 8-speed. This POS would run back wards if you weren't careful when doing curb and gutter. It had a chain drive, that always was popping off, and max speed with 8 yards was 45 on the highway. I got a ticket for going to slow ......and yours?

It was a 1971 ( I think) Crane Carrier. It also had a chain drive, gasoline powered engines, and, the grease & oil on the undercarrage was always catching fire. The flaming mixer from hell..

And I thought my old 1991 Autocar with all hand controls was bad. Sounds like a luxury mobile compared with those.
Anyone ever drive a truck with a Rex body on it? Dare to be different, you put the booster down and the flop chute and discharge hopper came with it, so A: If you don't have the chute to the side, you'll break it off, and B: there's nothing keeping stuff from spilling all over the road if you're going up a big hill and forget to spin it up all the way.

Yea, Mort. We have an owner/operator that loads at our plant. He's got one of those Rex systems. 13 yard drum. The chute and discharge hopper are mounted on the booster axle. He never loads more than 10 yards.

The worst truck I ever drove was also the first truck I ever drove. A 1967 (I think) Ford F-9 (gas engine) with a 6-yard Challenge barrel. It was about 9 years old when I got it. (I started with the company in 1974 but drove a dump truck for the first two years.) It had a 6 cylinder Chrysler pony motor to run the barrel. No hydraulics at all. To raise and lower the chutes there was a hand pump mounted on the running board at the back of the truck. No inside controls. No A/C. No radio. Holes in the floor to let the winter cold in. Heater and defroster not worth a damn. I have a picture of it somewhere. I'll scan it onto my computer and post it here someday.

1985 International Challenge-bodied booster load that I loved but literally had a major crap-out every time a load was put on it.
Trailers wouldn't lock up one time, another time the dash caught fire, the nearly twenty year old hydraulic hoses were popping all the time, etc.
Finally the finishers started calling my employer and saying they would refuse any more loads sent out in the thing.
That freakin' truck would run a hole in the wind though................

I had to drive a pos 89 autocar for 2 weeks while mine was in the shop..boosters didnt go down, the air lines on the transmission were screwed up, it would go through all the gears fine, but once you were in the high side you were stuck there till you stopped.. Say I was in 5th gear and came up to a hill and needed to drop down to the low side for 4th you were screwed..and with that truck it happened alot, no power whatsoever..
