Just wanted to say high. Found this site tonight looks good. little bout myself. I ahve only been driving ready mix for just under 2 years now but have been around truck driving all my life and around ready mix for about 10 of that growing up . from ontario canada anyways heres some pics of my rig. its a 2007 mack with a 11m drum that holds 9.5m legally......bout once and again i will get 10m in here. It also has the coveyor on the side which unfolds and swings both ways (ok stop laughing) it reaches about 43' from the back bumper. I do mainly alot of footings , slabs, smaller walls like 4foot frost walls. but when i aint conveying i run regular loads to where ever. We are jsut north of toronto in the city of orillia and we have 2 other plants. one in parry sound and they other and huntsville which we go to some times if they are busy and vise versa. Since we are also in cottage country we do serious offroading down roads i wouldnt even take my pickup truck. But it makes for some wild pics. anyways nice to meet ya all. I have one question though. i have read mention of slumps guages. How do they work. up here we just eyeball it. after awhile you get use to it anyways. I usaually am within 10mm - 20mm with testers now and bangon with our regulars. I hate the pours were it is just dry enough to come out the drum. I love my 4" slump. cant go wrong with four inches.......sex joke insert here. anyways heres just a 2 pics. Cheers

Welcome to Mixerdriver.com. That's a nice rig. I'm to damn lazy to drive something with a conveyor on it. How does your wash down go with that thing?

Hi Rescue......I never heard of a "slump guage" until I found this website. We go by sight and sound. If there's an inspector on the job he'll let us know how close we got it. We have two conveyor trucks. I was offered one of them but I didn't like the idea of hauling that thing around all the time. Do you get any extra pay for operating the conveyor? Our drivers get an extra $20 everytime they use it.

I think I started one of those threads. I've been using them more lately, but eyeballing it is usually the way that works the best for me.

well right now we get 1 buck an hour which is a joke but we are going for 1.25 a meter over the belt this contract....which is the norm around here. Ya I take out my far share of trees and wires but not my problem. they want to send me into the bush they gotta pay for repairs. I can get it washed down and put away in around 15-20 minutes , more in the cold. When i first started I use to use about 250litres of water now i use about 150 becuase i knwo what i am doing lol.
Most of us junior drivers are on the conveyors (we have 3) since we are basically forced to drive be we are junior. I am the senior conveyor so i dont get the crappy COD jobs any more 8).
we get the most ours usually from mrach break till xmas is about 10-14 hours per day 5-6 days a week. I take home more than the pump operators lol. Some days are good and some are bad but most are good . I could give it up but then i would have to drive one of the 1988 western starts we still keep alive lol.
I asked one of the much older guys and they said the slump gauge use to be in all the trucks but they break alot especially in the -20c weather.
how cold do you guys pour in we are about -25C before we call it off.
cheers

Rescue.....do you use that name because you're on a Rescue Squad? I'm a volunteer firefighter in NJ and I'm also a member of the Rescue Squad.
