It has to happen sooner or later. For me, sooner. I was on my way back to the plant from my first pour when I heard a loud POP and then a serious whining. Sounded like a police siren. Smoke was pouring out of the exhaust. I pull the truck over, open the hood, and yup, the turbocharger blew. So I sat on the freeway for three hours waiting to get towed. That's the drive shaft. Had to be removed to tow the truck.
When I got back to the plant, I jumped into the junker spare and hauled 8 yards of slurry. I scored 9 hours. Sweet!

was there last summer.. computer on truck was going out on the way to the job.. wouldnt do over 1500 rpms.. by the time i got there it wouldnt go over 1200 and the customer wanted me to add water and told me to mix it up really good.. so i let him have all 1200 RPMS... he kept yelling at me to mix it faster.. finally he got the hint when i reminded him i was 45 minutes late and the plant is only 15 away and ive been on the road for almost an hour.. got poured out and washed up and had about 2 yards left on, so I went to get on the street to wait for the truck and it would only idle..sat there for 3 hours when it was 100 degrees with no air and 2 yards on...it was fun.. but I was making city pay..

Were you empty when the turbo went south? Yea, I was empty. Washed the hell outta the drum when we got back to the plant. The tow truck driver hadda pull under the water, then I started the truck to put the drum in full charge to take water. My poor girl was spewing smoke everywhere.

man that sucks man how long till she back on the road, all break downs suck Good news! I got my truck back today. Spankin' new turbo, and the mechanic threw in a few new leaf springs.
I spent an hour or so brushing her with acid.
Nothing can make a driver love his truck more than driving a junker for a week while his truck is down. ;D
