Do any of you "rookie proof" your truck? What I mean is take me for instance. I hate when a rookie drives my truck because i already know they are going to trash it and dirty the hell out of my truck especially when I washed it the day before. What I do is disconnect the starter solenoid just enough to where it looks connected, but it's not. When you try to start the truck it won't turn over. I disable my truck on purpose. Next day I come in I get asked hey you know your truck wouldnt start. I tell them started fine for me. hahaha ;D ;D ;D ;D

We don't generally have that problem. We all drive the same trucks everyday. If someone's truck is down for the day we have a spare (we used to anyway) that they can use. If it happens that the driver has to use someone else's truck the mechanics let him know that he'd better take care of it. Most of our drivers respect the trucks of other drivers. Their trucks may look like s h i t, but with one or two exceptions there hasn't been any problems.

I wish that was the case here, but all the batchman and plant manager care about is having a body in a truck regardless of who's it is. Its a losing battle. You complain about it, but your complaint falls on deaf ears.

I don't have a truck now, but I used to be in the same boat. I was obsessive about keeping the inside of the drum clean, would rinse it out after every load. I came back from my wedding, and it gained 600lbs. It had a bunch of garbage on the inside, a bunch of dirt on the outside, it was trashed. But he, ironically, is driving a garbage truck now, and I'm still there.

First off, no one would ever put a rookie in my beater. They wouldn't come back the next day. Secondly, we have about 10 trucks just sitting around they use for spares, or extra trucks. If you wanna take my truck, have the hell at it..........

i'm back in an old beater for awhile now.. so i dont care who drives it.. but at my plant the only person that has been there less than me has been there a year and knows how to take care of a truck..if we btch and moan about someone getting our trucks dirty our manager doesnt care.. except for one guy.. if he complains the boss drops what hes doing and goes and chews the person who suposedly got the truck dirty..but this guy is a pain in the ass, if someone else drives his truck he nit picks it to death... I drove it about 2 months ago and hauled some nasty high way repair in it and he complained that I trashed his cab because I left a gatorade bottle in it.. and I told the boss.. i had 14 hours that Saturday and I was tired.. it was 1 gatorade bottle and told him to tell the other driver if he has a problem with someone come to me and not run to management.. this is the same guy that was $1300 behind on his dues a couple years ago and 1400 behind a couple months ago, and doesnt pay it until hes about ready to get fired just cause he feels he is better than the union and too good for this job..

1st off, The truck belongs to the company not me. Second if someone else drives mine and leaves it in bad shape I go to them and not the boss. A truck is a truck after 25 years, I never sweat the little things those that do manage to get riled up for little piddly things and that's no way to live. If my truck is down and I drive a more senior drivers truck I leave it the way I found it. That's just common sense.
