I have a alpine detachable face with 2 4x6's above on each side and 2 6x9's on each side. I cant be without a radio I'd go nuts.

My wife got me an XM radio for Christmas a few years ago. It isn't all they say it is, but it's better than commercial radio. The music channels on XM play the same songs over and over. Then after a couple of months they'll play another batch of songs over and over. This keeps repeating all year. Bob Dylan has an interesting show on one of the channels and so does country singer Bill Anderson. Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives host a show called "American Odyssey" every Friday. It's pretty good.

You gotta buy a radio & antenna & adapter kit, we're talking over $150 or more. A basic subscription is about $36 every three months. You could get a pretty decent set up on Ebay. I've had Sirius since Howard announced he was switching over, I got a home boom box, and two radios, one for the wife's car, and one for the mixer. subscription for all three radios is $50 every three months. Totally worth it to hear Howard.....

Well, I'm bouncing around trucks right now, so sometimes I have tunes, sometimes not.
XM is the only way to go, but now that they're the same thing, it'll probably go to crap.
Howard Stern is irrelevant. Of course, I say that as an Opie and Anthony fan.
And our shop will actually put in a stereo for us, if we write it up. But I'm not going to waste the money on a deck until I get a truck again.

our company orders them without radios... our bulkers can have them so they can hear the traffic report.. but the mixers cant.. apparently too many ass-holes wouldnt answer the company radio while listening to music... my phone has an MP3 Player on it, and I have a set of speakers for it so i use that..

But I'm not going to waste the money on a deck until I get a truck again. I heard Mel Karmazin of Sirius Radio on O&A and he said within 3-4 months they'll be offering programs from both XM and Sirius to all the subscribers. And you'll be able to use your current radio. I agree with you about Howard. I listened to him for over 10 years and loved him but then he started doing the same gay and fart stuff every day and it got a little tired. He did keep me entertained for a long time, though.

Also, Mort, I have about 10 years of full O&A shows, if yer interested. Hehe. Everything from WBAB, WNEW, and XM and CBS. I get new shows every week. ;D The Sirius/XM merger won't really affect the programming as far as O&A are concerned, at least for another year or so.

Some of us have radios. I haven't had one in mine in years. Dispatch is threatening to jerk them out of all the mixers because guys can't stop blasting their radios over the two-way. They do it to aggravate the dispatcher, but they'll definitely cry when they can't have one anymore.

Our mechanics will install any stereo equipment we buy, so long as it doesn't interfere with the workings of the truck. I'm sure they'd not think it cool to install a few more batteries to power that 5,000 watt box ya might want on the passenger side.
