I'm sorry. I'm not familiar with that term. What do you mean by "dry socket"? I try to get any and all concrete out of my drum before it sets. What does set up I like to chip out as soon as I can.

it's when your batcher load 10yrds worht of cement in you truck with out adding water first and then loads the aggregate after causing a really bad mess it happened just alittle bit ago to one of our drivers we all helped him chip it out .it covered the whole back of the drum and was about 2 1/2 ft thick and it was smoking when we pulled the hatch covers off very hot mud

O.K. We've called this dry packing where I'm at. Never seen it done that severe. I did have to jack hammer out a truck once that had about a 2 1/2 foot slab on the back of the drum. Looked like someone stood the drum straight up and poured the concrete in. It had been there for God only knows how long. It took three guys with a big jack hammer, two to hold the rope holding the bit up and one operating it, about three whole days to get it cleaned out.

When one of our older drivers retired years ago I inherited his truck. I'd been driving Fords for quite a few years and this would be my first Mack. But, knowing that he was going to retire soon he didn't take very good care of the barrel. It must have had a yard and a half or two yards stuck in it. He was gone and I got to jackhammer it all out.
