Depending on the distance/type of pour, that's about a 10 truck pour right there. I like when they overbill on Saturdays, because I'm a weekend kinda guy, but if I work a night shift, I want the hours out of it.

WE have all done them but nowadays I think f*** it there's enough hours in the day already so find some other muppet to do it. They never give you the money or the thanks like the old days. When was the last time they bought you your meals during a pour, always used to happen!

we do paving like that on the highway we're doing.. they have a roller with a 5 horse motor and a guy stands on it and pushes some levers and rides it on down.. how was it with security?? we have a place we pour at called defense mapping.. it is a government project that makes all the maps for Iraq and what not.. if we have a pour there they have to know who the driver is that is bringing the load and the truck number the day before the pour.. that way they can run a background check on you..they have mirrors they put under the truck and they climb up the ladder to see if there is anything in your drum lol..

^^^ Security was redundant but not to tight. We had to show our CDL to the gate guard every time we went in, and he kept a record of truck numbers. Other than that, pretty lax.

We do a lot of work at, ahem, the largest aerospace manufacturer in the Seattle area. They take our license and give us a badge for the day. They'll also have the dog sniff our trucks the first time, but we all had to do a background check for them anyway, so they know we're legit.

Worked till 1530 today. Called the lineup at 1830 to find out I'm billed in tomorrow at 0030. Nice when they let me know about something like that, huh? HAPPY to have the work, but lemme prepare myself!

Right now 25 is stingy as hell right now. I waited in line on saturday 2.5 hrs only to be told to wash it out and not even hauling a load.

21 rocks.
I can't remember how many times I've been sent to 20 down in San Clemente and they tell me to take it home cause I'll have a yard left in the drum. They don't want us dumping it there at all.

The hardest night pour have done was the week before this last Christmas. The pour was a 17,500+ yard mat pour in downtown Houston that was nonstop for about 20 hours. It took everyone they have in Houston and about 110 extra drivers from north and east Texas. We got bussed down for the first shift from Dallas. I had already been up for 20 hours straight when I got on the bus, and got no sleep on the bus. 5 hours later we got on the trucks and ran nonstop for 15 hours, I was so tired, somehow I survived!

Man that's gotta suck.. getting bussed down there to drive someone elses junk for 15 hours.. I'd be sick that day.. That would be sweet if they'd let us take our trucks down and help out, I'd be all for it..Drive down the night before in the mixer and get going the next day..

Yeah it did, but it was still kinda fun just to be there for it. We sure did get the junkiest trucks on earth too, mine was a 91 Pete with 370,000+ miles on it, first load the front end broke a spring. Second truck was an '01 mack that was pieced together to put it nicely! These trucks were in "storage" we were told later, they hadn't been cranked or pre-tripped for about nine months. I'll post up with all of the specifics on this job, we got a memo about it at the plant. We ran it from about 6 differnt plants in the area, I got screwed and got the furthest plant that was 38 miles each way! That sucks when you are paid by the load. ??

They're like that b/c their infield is tiny. Usually is you have less than 2 yds you can. To wash out they make prefer you wash out at the wash out. Don't sweat it even I learned the hard way. Every plant is different they can't expect us to know

Ew, paid by the load? No thank you.
When Cemex took us over, everybody was afraid they'd start doing that, but some higher-up dude told us straight up that they had tried it, and it didn't work.
So, until I am given reason to think otherwise, we won't be.
