"nothing like it".....but you may be right. Good luck with your new job. I was a rookie in 1974 (were you even born?) and never thought I'd still be doing it 34 years later. Someone suggested that you check out some of the other posts. That's a good idea. You'll get some good tips on how to perform your job and what pitfalls to avoid. Pitfall #1.....never allow a pump operator to take all your water. That's your water. Your job is to deliver the concrete and get the truck back in one piece. I don't remember anyone telling me that my job description includes supplying water to pump guys. Let them have all they want after you're done cleaning your truck.

f**k 'em if they want my water. I have a 90 gallon tank, and it's MINE. Hehe. I'll show up a little dry and add maybe 20 at most. A few times I've had to wait for a pea gravel pump to long, and they used almost 70 gallons. I filled back up from a fire hydrant. When the pumper's crew wanted water from my tank, I depressurized the tank. =)

You're out of 25, huh? I'm out of 21. good luck out there, its really slow what I suggest is try working your way to LA county as much as possible everyday. If you happen to live near 25 I'd tell you to transfer b/c all the work is over at our plant since we're a source plant. Just food for thought.

We do alright at 21. Last week I logged 50+ hours. This week is another story. A little slow. It comes and goes, but I average a 40 hour week usually.

I'm sure you'll hear this from a lot of us here and at the plant save money..save, save, save. save at least15-20% out of every check. Once winter comes with your senority chances are you wont make the line up. When it rains show up to the plant anyways. What truck do you drive?
