My truck is a 1994 Advance. You all can keep your new trucks with all the electronic crap. Levers and cables are for me.

before 9/11 we used to sell our trucks when they were 18 months old, or newer and replace them with brand new Advance front discharge trucks. my boss used to be a major stock holder in Advance, we got a pretty good discount. Since Terex bought out Advance, we dont replace them very often now, my truck was built April 05, and there is a 7 trucks a little older than that still in our fleet, but they are now for sale. The senior guys like the older trucks better because we dont like the electric/hydrolic controllers (video game joystick) for the chute control or the charge/discharge button on the stick. We all like the foot control pedel and the manual valve for the chute control. The electric chute controllers are all the time breaking down and making the chutes go crazy! One guy had his chute swing to the right while he was driving to the job until it broke the chain and kept on going. it was a real joy to the mechanic who had to tear the dash apart to clip a wire to make the chute stop so we could transfer the load to another truck and send it to the job. And who the heck wants power windows that dont roll all the way down anyway? or get stuck halfway and you cant wash your truck without drowning your dash? sometimes, simpler is better. the only thing we like about the new trucks is mandatory air conditioning the factory has to instal!

Sounds like those Advances are piles of junk. Does that kind of stuff happen all the time?

Sounds like those Advances are piles of junk. Does that kind of stuff happen all the time? After they got bought out by Terex things went downhill fast. They used to have a damn good mixer.
