The only time Piqua Concrete (Ohio) used to give any kind of bonus to us was around Christmas just before layoff, between $800 and $1000. Last year, business was down, the company cried broke, and two weeks AFTER christmas, they gave us $100 each! It was a little late for my daughters christmas gifts, but we got by. The only bad thing about this, the salesmen all got brand new GMC Sierra pickup trucks, crew cab, fog lights, aluminum wheels, 4x4 (5 of them in all!) and they traded in thier 2 year old trucks with under 80,000 miles on them! Did they really need new gas guzzling trucks? The sales team includes 2 of the owners sons, one son-in-law, one one guy who is the owners best friend, plus two mobile mechanics each get very well equipped trucks. Our lead mechanic didn't want a new truck, he still drives a 4 year old regular cab long bed with manual windows and AM radio, because that is all he wants! These new crew cabs are worthless, the beds are so short they cannot haul dye, or super plastisizer to the jobs because the beds are to small. Why didnt they keep the old trucks, or buy something fuel effecient, like a new Ford Focus, Chevy Cobalt, etc? One son bought a brand new H2 hummer with his christmas bonus, and the whole family went to the Carribean Islands for two weeks. hmmmmmmm.....its to bad we are broke!

Isn't that always the way Gant. Them being broke means they can't upgrade their 65' yacht this year. Or can't afford to redo their private jets. That's broke to them. They all cry the same song. We just got our bonus plan back, it is based on cubic yards PRODUCED per man hour worked, That number came equalled a percentage of your annual gross you got back. I said it was based on production, but when it came down to the checks all of the sudden it had to do with profits??? anyways my bonus was a little over 5600. As for christmas and safety bonuses they did away with all of that, we used to have quarterly meetings at a resturant and they took that too! You don't even want to know about the company picnic/united way meeting...
