What do yall get for a bonus. We get a quarterly. Amounts to around $2500-$3000 a year. F-up and lose it for the quarter. I used to work for a place where we got so much per yard, paid weekly and $100 a month safety bonus, It was real easy to make $300+ a week in bonus money. If you messed up you lost the monthly safety and the haul bonus for that week.

No bonuses here either. We have a 401K that the company contributes to every year. Could that be considered a bonus?

we did over 160,000 yards lastyear and the company didnt say thank you, or kiss my -ass-.. and then they want to offer us a .$35 cent raise on our contract for a year and us pay health and welfare out of it.. so we'd end up with $7 cents..

We get .25cents per yard hauled. I also get $4 for ever load run across my conveyor. All together it can add up. I think my best month last year was around $1000. So thats not to bad. This year should be good too. We have 7 bridges this summer out of my plant and they always like to use the conveyor for everything.

Oh and the raise thing.. Our contract is up.. it has been up for over a month now but the union keeps putting off negotiations with the company..and we have a guy that is over $1200 behind on his union dues and hes been working alot more than me lately with the bad weather we've been having.. so we're not too happy with the union at our plant.. I wish I would have gotten $.25 cents a yard hauled.. lastyear I would have made a bunch of money..We averaged over 200 yards a week each..

We have a safety bonus incentive. It goes by how many hours you work without an accident. The more hours you go accident free, the higher the check. Have an accident and kiss it goodbye until next year.
We also get a gift card for $200 around Christmas, for a local grocery store. Makes for a hell of a nice Christmas dinner.

Ottumwa, Iowa famous people 101
The character "Radar O'Reilley" was from Ottumwa but not the actually guy that played him.
Tom Arnold, the comedian is actually from Ottumwa. I went to the same high school as him. He has family here still. He pops in here and there. I've ran into him a few times. When he was married to Roseanne they used to have a diner in the area, she was a real pregnant dog though. I used to work with his brother, he has nothing good to say about him. I suppose its because his brother is a millionaire and here he was working in a factory.
If your in to drag racing, Tommy Johnson JR. the nitro funny car driver is from here as well.
Not bad for a lil town in Iowa. LOL

Yeah, I knew that Gary Burghoff (sp?) was probably not from Iowa but that's cool that Tom Arnold is. He was great in that bathroom scene from Austin Powers. "Hey how about a courtesy flush?"......har! Funny stuff!

We get quarterly bonuses. $30 if you don't kill anybody. $30 if you don't kill yourself. $30 if you keep your truck clean. $50-$200 if your YPMH is 3.0-4.5 or more. Not worth killing yourself over, but it's free money.

The loss you take just from not getting the safety bonus is unbelievable. we get $150 a quarter ($200 if over 5 years of service) and up to 1000 at the end of year depending on overall plant safety. Also I noticed in another thread that you dont get the 40 hour guarantee. our company does indeed pay a 40 hour guarantee and then shifts it to 32 hours during the summer, although they have kept it at 40 hours due to the slow down. they have you guys on a BS rural pay system. my god, you get what $5 a day in bonus money? we are pulling 10 loads a day = 300 bucks for a mid level driver. man you guys are getting the pipe.

Beside I have it pretty good here, really don't like the big co.

true enough on the big company. DFWNGA, your avitar shows what looks like a lafarge truck still in its old blue circle color yellow? pulled 31 loads this week, with the fake overtime added in it will be a little over 1130 dollars for the week. still good for the slowdown.

You missed on that one Lefargeslave it's a full blooded Basic Readymix truck. But they do look alot like the old Blue Circle trucks which if memory serves me you all bought out many years back. On the slow down we are bustin loose 55 hrs for both the last two weeks without working weekends not to bad for us. But we are under cutting everybody arounds us on price. $78 a yard. That will keep a man busy.

be careful. USA down here in the city has been undercutting prices for a while. come to find out they are $22 million in the hole to shipping concrete at a loss. they had a big firing event in management when it was realized how far in the hole they are going. we got the 14th street bridge from them due to their failure to make break strength on the DOT mixes. just have to wait it out.

They just changed our bonus structure. It used to be that you were rewarded individually, but they changed that. Now, our safety and y.p.m.h. bonuses depend on the group as a whole. If 1 person gets hurt then everyone looses the bonus. The whole company has to average 3.0 or better for everyone to get a bonus. Basically, they've eliminated the bonuses so I guess I'll just quit trying and coast like everyone else.
